We have two immediate, open Board positions, plus the three Board positions opening for the 2026 term. Serving on the Board is a rewarding way to make a significant impact on our operations and strategy.

Resources for elected board members include Google Workspace which involves a dedicated guild email address, shared drives, and Google platform software. Candidates for elected positions should be familiar with, or willing to learn the basics of Google applications to remain connected, access resources and serve. Director of Membership: You are the face and voice of the Guild, responsible for growing and engaging our membership. Your work connects every member to the Guild and its leadership structure. Do you love connecting with people and keeping things organized?
Term: One year (Elected Executive Board Position)
Time Commitment: 4–6 hours per month, with higher peaks during membership drives and elections.
Core Responsibilities: Member Relations & Governance. This role requires strong organization and a passion for community building:
Roster Management: Maintain accurate Guild roster and attendance records. Serve as the primary contact with the national Modern Quilt Guild Inc. and manage the roster through their website.
Recruitment & Outreach: Serve as the Executive Board’s lead for Board, committee, and general volunteer recruitment. Communicate actively with prospective members.
Governance & Elections: Oversee the Executive Board Election process (including candidate slate and voting logistics). Keep minutes regarding all non-financial decisions and votes.
Member Support: Serve as the first point of contact for membership questions and general inquiries.
Essential Skills
Excellent Communicator: Warm, responsive, and comfortable connecting with new and current members.
Highly Organized: Precise attention to detail for maintaining records and managing processes (elections, minutes, rosters).
Leadership Focus: Enthusiasm for encouraging members to step into volunteer and leadership roles.
Treasurer: You are the financial foundation of the Guild, ensuring fiscal responsibility and legal compliance. Your accuracy enables every program, event, and speaker we host. Do you have a head for numbers and want to safeguard our financial future?
Term: One year (Elected Executive Board Position)
Time Commitment: 3–5 hours per month, depending on transaction volume.
Core Responsibilities: Financial Management & Compliance. This role requires integrity and focus on accurate record-keeping:
Fund Management: Act as a bank account signatory with the President. Receive, deposit, and disburse all Guild monies as authorized.
Record Keeping: Maintain detailed bookkeeping records of all funds collected and disbursed. Must be familiar with or willing to learn QuickBooks, PayPal, and online banking.
Reporting: Provide brief financial reports at general meetings and keep minutes for financial decisions.
Budgeting & Compliance: Draft the annual budget for Board review and finalization. File necessary State and Federal forms and provide financial and bank records upon request.
Essential Skills:
Trustworthy & Reliable: Absolute integrity and attention to detail are mandatory.
Organized: Ability to maintain accurate, current records and manage digital accounts.
Board Participation: Must attend and contribute to quarterly (or more frequent) Executive Board meetings.
Vice President/Director of Programs: You are the main source of excitement and education for our members. Your programming decisions drive attendance, skill-building, and the overall social health of the Guild. Do you like connecting with others? Are you ready to bring high-quality education and exciting events to our Guild? Do you have a vision for our future meetings and want to step into an Executive leadership role?
Term: One year (Elected Executive Board Position)
Time Commitment: 10-12 hours per month, with higher workload when coordinating major speakers or events.
Core Responsibilities: Leadership & Member Engagement
This role balances Executive Board duties with creative program coordination:
Program Coordination: Coordinate and plan all programming for regular monthly meetings (speakers, demos, etc.).
Social Oversight: Oversee all Guild social activities approved by the Executive Board.
Financial Approval: Seek Executive Board approval for social activities that require Guild funds, contracts, or insurance coverage.
Executive Leadership: Assist the President as needed and preside over General Meetings in the President's absence, ensuring meetings run smoothly.
Essential Skills
Excellent Planner: Ability to organize events and secure speakers well in advance.
Engaging Leader: Enthusiastic and capable of leading meetings and motivating members.
Responsible: Attention to detail regarding contracts, budgeting, and insurance requirements.
Librarian: Our library is a huge benefit to our members, helping them learn new techniques and access resources they might not own. As the Guild Librarian, you are the curator
and caretaker of this valuable resource, connecting members directly with the knowledge they need to grow their skills and finish their projects. Resources are not limited to books, but our inventory only has books available. Do you love organization and enjoy assisting others?
Commitment: One-year term. May be shared with another individual.
Time Commitment: Low, 2–3 hours per month, primarily spent managing the library at monthly on-site meetings.
Support: works autonomously but reports on the library status to the Board as needed.
Core Responsibilities: Monthly. This role focuses entirely on the smooth operation of the Guild Library:
Meeting Preparation: Briefly review inventory due back at the next meeting. Select a few items (new arrivals or themed choices) to feature to encourage check-out.
Meeting Management: Arrive early to set up the library station. Check books in and out using our simple tracking system. Assist members in finding specific resources.
Collection Care: Maintain the collection's organization and good condition. Coordinate with the Board on acquiring new materials.
Essential Skills: Highly Organized: You need to be detail-oriented for tracking inventory and check-outs. Reliable: Dependably manage the library table at every monthly meeting. Personable and Friendly.
Challenges Coordinator: You inspire and motivate members by designing fun, low-pressure projects that help them learn new techniques and push their creative boundaries. Challenges provide skill building opportunities and are intended to stretch a member's creative design and construction processes. Do you enjoy designing projects and cheering others on?
Term: One year. May be shared with another individual.
Time Commitment: Low, 1-2 hours per month, focused on project planning and promotion.
Support: Works autonomously but reports on the Challenge status to the Board as needed. Coordinates with the Director of Communications for web/media postings.
Core Responsibilities: Ongoing. This role involves planning 2-3 challenges throughout the year and promoting them monthly. For challenge design, select engaging skill-building topics or themes for the year (e.g., color theory, new ruler techniques, specific block types). Define clear, simple rules and deadlines for each challenge.
Promotion & Communication: Write persuasive announcements for the newsletter and present the challenge details at meetings to generate excitement and boost participation.
Encouragement: Serve as the primary cheerleader, providing regular reminders, tips, and encouragement to keep members on track.
Presentation: Organize and host the final reveal or for each challenge at a monthly meeting, celebrating every member who participated.
Essential Skills:
Creative & Motivational: You need a knack for generating exciting ideas and inspiring members to try them.
Organized Communicator: You must communicate clear rules and deadlines effectively across multiple platforms.
Block Lotto Coordinator: You get to be the creative force behind one of our most popular monthly activities, inspiring members to try new techniques and bringing excitement to our meetings. Do you enjoy choosing patterns and running a light, quarterly activity?
Commitment: One-year term. May be shared with another individual.
Time Commitment: Low, 3-5 hours per quarter—a light, recurring commitment for block preparation, meeting collection and presentations. We are seeking to develop a Block Lotto binder to include past instructions and block examples and a record of winners to help prevent repeating blocks and provides quick formatting references.
Support: Works autonomously or as a team of two. Communicates with Director of Communications for web/media postings.
Core Responsibilities: Quarterly Cycle. This role operates on a three-month rotation, managing the Lotto from selection to drawing:
Selection: Choose a fun new block pattern, technique, or theme for the upcoming cycle.
Communication: Write clear, concise instructions for the block and share them for publication in the newsletter.
Execution: Collect submitted blocks at the designated meeting, display them to build anticipation, and oversee the official drawing.
Distribution: Ensure the winner receives the full set of blocks promptly.
Essential Skills: Creative and Fun: Ability to choose engaging block patterns. Organized: Capable of creating clear instructions and managing the submission process.
